ASSESSMENT PROJECTS
• The Illini Union completed the third annual EBI survey, now known as Skyfactor Benchworks. In addition to institution specific questions that are submitted, this assessment tool monitors overall performance of 12 key factors: 1) publicizes the Illini Union and promotes campus, 2) college union has a positive environment, 3) college union is student-centered, 4) college union is a source of en- tertainment, 5) college union enhances life and leadership, 6) college union food variety, quality and price, 7) dining service aspects, 8) bookstore staff, 9) bookstore item variety and price, 10) cleanliness, 11) staff, and 12) overall program effectiveness. The final report also provides comparison analysis against six peer institutions.
• Results from the EBI survey have consistently indicated that while the Union provides a variety
of food options, there is a distinct lack of a higher-end sit-down/waited service option. In response, the Illini Union released a restaurant survey to gauge interest in a full-service restaurant option. The purpose and goal of this assessment was to validate the data collected from other feedback mecha- nisms to confirm there was indeed a campus-wide preference for a full service restaurant at the Illini Union and to provide data to “make informed decisions to improve programs, services, and facilities.” It was also imperative to determine whether the proposed Illini Union restaurant project not only aligned directly with the Illini Union strategic plan, but also openly reflected the department’s mis- sion and core values.
• The Illini Union participated in the Campus Activities and Student Involvement Bench- mark Survey. This survey was created by NASPA and was administered through the Campus Labs Software System. Its purpose was to assess undergraduate students’ campus involvement level and their outcomes as a result of said involvement. In addition, the survey allowed respondents to give feedback on their preferred means to learn about campus activities and the reasons behind when they decided not to attend events.
• The 2014 spring semester Illini Union Parent and Family Programs Office (PFPO) Online Parent Survey was developed in collaboration with the Illini Union Marketing Office through Campus Labs. While it does contain questions of a general nature, the primary purpose of the survey was to gather information about Illinois parents’ use of technology and the Parent and Family Programs Office’s ability to reach them through electronic and written communications.
As a result of attending campus events, 85%
of Illinois international students say they have been able to interact with domestic students.
