Campus Prepares for Commencement
In just a few short months, the collegiate journey is going to end for thousands of University of Illinois students. The moment a student walks across the stage to collect their diploma is a lasting memory they will cherish forever.
Commencement Weekend 2016 will take place Friday – Sunday, May 13 – 15. A number of activities are sched- uled throughout the weekend to celebrate the achieve- ments of the graduates. Most colleges, schools and departments will hold individual ceremonies throughout the weekend, and various groups will host specific celebratory events for individual student populations. Students should receive information regarding these
ceremonies directly from those specific units. If informa- tion has not been received by April 1, students are advised to contact those units directly.
Of course the most anticipated event of the week- end is the Campus- wide Commence- ment Ceremony. Once again, the ceremony will be held in Memo-
rial Stadium. This will allow all colleges and schools
to participate in one ceremony instead of two separate ceremonies, as in the past. The official Commencement Ceremony is at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 14.
A complete listing of the events scheduled for Com- mencement Weekend, as well as other helpful informa- tion, can be found at the official Commencement at Il- linois website, commencement.illinois.edu/. The website will also feature a live stream of the Commencement Ceremony for those unable to attend.
