COMMON GROUND
Through expanding outreach in Spanish and Mandarin Chinese, Illini Union Par- ent and Family Programs connects more parents to Illinois services and programs.
• The Illini Union Procurement and Inventory Control launched a pilot program to provide digital course packets. Converting the course packet to digital format is significantly less expensive than paper course packets and affords an additional option for students.
• The name of the Illini Union Parent Programs Office was officially changed to Illini Union Parent and Family Programs to be more inclusive of those individuals who students consider family, but may not be parents.
• The Illini Union Parent and Family Programs Office received a Student Affairs Strategic Initiative Grant to translate educational brochures into Spanish
and Mandarin, the two most frequently spoken languages by families whose
first language is not English.
• The Illini Union Bookstore hosted over 40 book and author events during the 2014-15 school year.
